Color Meditation

Color Meditation

I like this particular meditation. You get the chance to visualize colors-which have meanings, by the way. For this type of meditation, you visualize yourself being bathed in colorful light. This light clears and balances the energy centers, also known as chakras of your body. Each chakra is associated with color and each color is associated with a meaning. Does color impact your emotions? See what YOU think and feel about color.
Having a comfortable seat is important. You can create your own space. There are even meditation chairs. One example is in the widget at the bottom of the page.

Color Meditation-Multiple Colors
Find a comfortable place to sit and take a deep breath through you nose. Exhale slowly through your mouth. Do this inhale/exhale series three times. This will actually relax your body, and is a good practice before you do something that might stress you out, by the way. I take these three breaths before I give a speech or presentation. It works wonders. It should really be the basis for any meditation/relaxation because it is simple and it works.

Color Meditation requires proper breathing.

Color Meditation

Once you finish the three breaths, visualize (picture or imagine) a white light of God and of universal love flowing over you or swirling around you. Make this practce your own, so however you wish to visualize the white 'bath' go ahead and do so. However, you visualize it, allow the white light to go around you in a counter-clockwise motion, starting with your feet and allow it to move toward your head. Visualize this bath of white light moving from your feet to your head three times. Take your time, and breath. Enjoy this, because this is a very healing meditation.

There will be times, that this white light/love visualization is a wonderful quick-fix meditation. It is especially nice to practice while in the shower and a wonderful way to either begin your day feeling wonderfully fresh or end your day by allowing the stresses of the day to wash away and letting the joys be acknowledged.

If you struggle with allowing the light to move easily, don't worry. Play with it and let it flow. Practice daily. The more time you spend, the more it will open up and balance and flow easily for you. This is your natural state and it will happen. Remember, be patient and without expectation. Whatever happens, is supposed to happen.

Keep in mind that not every color of this meditation will flow easily. If you have 'blockages' or issues with any particular area, the color may not flow quite so freely. Don't worry. Just go with the flow and take note for later. This might be an area of your life you want to work on. Maybe, maybe not-it doesn't really matter right now.

Color Meditation: How to get the energy moving!

According to energy/chakra experts, moving the different color lights in a clockwise motion brings energy to that energy center. Each energy center corresponds with various emotional/physical aspects. Moving the different color lights in a counter-clockwise motion protects the chakras.

Color Meditation: Moving to the Crown Chakra Continue the visualization and imagine a purple light (crown chakra, which brings in spirit) swirling either clock-wise or counter-clockwise. See which direction suits you best and go with that. Remember, this is YOUR meditation visualization practice.

Color Meditation: Moving to the Third Eye

The third eye area (on your forehead between your eyes) is known as your intuitive area. We all have intuition, but we all don't always listen, but that is certainly another story. Visualize an indigo colored light moving in a circular motion either clockwise or counter-clockwise. Go with what feels right for you that day. Continue this visualization until you feel the light moving easily and without any resistance. Then, let it swirl around your body down to your feet and back up to your head. Continue moving up and down your body until you feel like it is time to move on.

Color Meditation: Moving to the Throat Chakra

The next area to devote attention to is the throat area. This is the energy center-the chakra-that holds anger and the ability to speak up for yourself. Visualize a blue light flowing. You guessed it! It will either flow clockwise or counter-clockwise. Continue until it feels free and flows easily. The color may become more clear. Let the blue light swirl around your body down your body to the feet and then up toward your head.

Color Meditation: Moving to the Heart Chakra

The next chakra area is in the heart which is the center of love for yourself and others. The color is pink or green. Pick the color that speaks to you most. Follow the same visualization as with the other energy centers.

Remember let the color flow in either direction it chooses to. They will not always be the same, either.

Color Meditation: Moving to the Diaphragm Chakra

The diaphragm chakra is located right below your breastbone or in the stomach area. The color for this chakra is the color yellow, and relates to emotional issues. Follow the same visualization as the other chakras.

Color Meditation: Moving to the Abdomen Chakra

The next chakra-color meditation is in the abdomen and the color is orange. This color relates to sexuality.
Repeat the sequence as already described.

Color Meditation: Moving to the Root Chakra

The next and last chakra (energy center) is in the pelvic area. It is also known as the root chakra and the color is red. It relates to safety and security and extends to the earth. Follow the same sequence as with the other energy centers and colors.
