There is more and more buzz about aging these days. It isn't your imagination. This is because more and more of us are reaching the 'middle ages.' Once rather a tabu subject, it is now okay to discuss what happens to our bodies, minds and spirits as we age. Some of us have fearfully entered those conversation, however the results are usually good.
How is our society preparing us for graceful aging?
I'm not sure I would use the word, grace, but you need to only watch a few hours of television any given night or day to see multitudes of advertisements for remedies for:
Erectile dysfunction (the dreaded ED!)
Wrinkles (AKA fine lines) and Cellulite (I'm not sure which is worse)
Memory Loss (I forgot where I put the remote!)
Urinary leakage (I miss this one sometimes because I'm in the bathroom with urinary urgency!)
Constipation
Thinning of the bones (osteoporosis)
Retirement plans during a recession and the potential for no social security for many of us

At least we're talking about what is happening. There are more and more books and magazine articles (and even websites!) to give us some guidance.
So, why pages about graceful aging in a natural-holistic website? Rest assured, if you've never considered a more natural, holistic (body, mind, spirit) approach to wellness, you will as you begin to face the challenges of the middle ages and beyond.
One day, not long ago, (and it seemed like an over-night change) I woke up to find a body that I no longer recognized. There were lumpts where there never were before, and it seemed like everything went totally south-and I mean seriously south. I noticed lines that weren't there before. My joints creaked so loud that I thought I may wake up my snoring husband. The woman staring at me in the mirror looked sad, tired, and overwhelmed. I was just that! The bad news is that outward signs that I'm seeing is REALLY an indication that changes are happening on the inside.
Some good news?!
Our body is always regenerating and trying to maintain health. If you are in weak in an area (body, mind or spirit) simply work on those areas. Otherwise, just keep up the good work. Prevention is KEY.

Have you seen the movie 'The Bucket List?' In the movie, the characters are faced with serious illness and their own mortality.
The bucket list is a list of things they wish to do before death (kick the bucket).
What does your bucket list look like? Exotic trips don't need to be on the list, by the way.
Maybe your list would include adding a hint of beauty to the day, eating healthy meals on your favorite dishes, trying a new food or recipe, taking a new supplement you've been wanting to try, starting a new exercise class (like taking a yoga class for the first time), getting a facial or bikini wax, wearing that favorite dress just because, taking a foreign language course, learning to play a musical instrument...
