Weight Loss Blog-My Journey

It's not just about weight loss, but today is the day I decided to make the big committment-TIME to LOSE some weight!
Every once in awhile, I get the bug for change. Sometimes it is because I hear something interesting and decide to give it a try and other times I just suddenly find myself fed up with something.

Why weight loss and why now?Yesterday I woke up feeling tired, sluggish and unhappy with the what I saw in the mirror. Work, writing 2 blogs and 2 websites, home 'facelifts' and just generalized laziness has left me out of balance emotionally and physically. There really isn't a good excuse for not taking proper care of myself, though.

I'm carrying around about an extra 15 pounds. I know this because I looked at a BMI (body mass index) calculator/chart and because my clothes just don't fit the way they used to. I also know that I'm just not as energetic as I am typically. Even a few extra pounds can increase risks of serious health problems. I'm 50 now, and there aren't really any excuses for being lazy-the price is just too high.

The first step in making changes is simply to decide to make the change. Part of my committment is to say it out loud-basically make it real. I'm saying it out loud in a big way-I'm blogging about it. I'm going to be honest, too. I may know a lot about living a holistic and healthy life, but I'm also human. I'm not perfect. You'll get to share this journey with me.

After making the committment, I decided to find the best way for me to achieve my goals. Oops-better decide exactly what my goals are. It is important to have definable and acheivable goals. I'm visual, so I like to write things down. Then, I turn those goals into affirmations. Affirmations are very, very important. So often our 'inner critic' is so much louder and so much more negative than we need and want.

Thank you all for supporting me in this journey. I hope you will find my story entertaining, inspiring and maybe even educational!
