Simply Natural Holistic Medicine and Health for the Busy Person
Welcome to my site! My name is Carmen and I am a holistic nurse practitioner.
Are you interested in living a naturally-holistic lifestyle, but aren't quite sure where to begin?
It can certainly be intimidating, and you are in the right place! Let me tell you how I got started.
The start to my natural holistic lifestyle:
About 15 years ago I attended my first holistic nursing conference. I was working on my master's degree and absolutely found my home in the concept of holism, although I didn't know as much as I wanted to. So, off I went in my business-casual finest expecting things to be like they were at every other profesional conference I had attended-informative, yet dull presentations, lots of note taking, long days with little time for fun or relaxation, lots of book vendors and pharmaceutical companies.
Was I in for a surprise! It was wonderful, and it wasn't like anything I had ever experienced. It was in a beautiful, peaceful setting. We began our morning with breakfast and a morning visualization meditation, and repeated that with lunch. We had breaks in the afternoon to participate in 'sharing circles' if we wished. There was private time cut out of the conference purposefully for self-care, and massage therapists, reflexologists and others were hired for a bit of pampering. I was so personally and professionally CHARGED UP!
The vendor hall was filled with interesting books/tape on subjects I had never heard of and cards (angel, motivation, healing) for sale as well as clothing, jewelry (crystals), aromatherapy supplies and many gadgets I had never seen. I had a long way to go when it came to learning about holism, but I was hooked.
I have to admit that I sure felt intimidated by it all. Yet, never had I felt so much connection with a group.
By the end of the conference, I learned one very important thing that changed my life:
The journey to holism was MY OWN journey with my body, mind and soul. This made learning about a naturally-holistic lifestyle fun and exciting-not intimidating.
Since this time I have published research and articles about holism and even lectures on the topics. I've come a long way since that first conference!
I can't wait to share my challenges and triumphs with you on the pages of naturally-holistic.net!
Living a natural holistic and healthy life in such busy times can be a challenge. We're pulled in many directions, and perhaps it is even MORE important for the busiest of us to tend to our own needs.

I'm pulled in a million different directions. Is finding balance just wishful thinking?
Graceful aging? Is that some of the healing humor you talked about or is it possible to age with grace?
